Hell In A Cell 2019
It seems funny to even be discussing this Hell In A Cell event after that fucking ending! So I’ll start there. Chants of refund and rematch, boos galore and then chanting “AEW” – which is All Elite Wrestling (basically Ring of Honor via TNA for 2019/20).
So what went wrong?
Well, in pretty much the worst ending to a PPV event ever the snore-fest of another Seth Rollins main event – against “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt – was rolled out inside the Cell, you know anything-goes/nothing illegal, but after two-dozen no-sells the ref calls in and ends the match in a DQ. Total WTF moment.
It was such a fucking dud.
And that’s a shame because it ruins everything that came before it. The main event isn’t always the best match on the card, sure. But it should at least mean something. And this meant absolutely nothing.
A shame really – given Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks’ opening Cell match was a classic. An absolute ripper.
There were other okay moments on the bill also – Asuka and Kairi Sane (The Kabuki Warriors) beating Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross for the women’s tag belts was good; really good actually.
And Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns beating Luke Harper and Erick Rowan in a Tornado tag was fun.
Charlotte Flair and Bayley duked it out decently too.
But none of this mattered.
There was the usual Randy Orton snore-fest and other matches that were neither good nor bad (Chad Gable beating King Corbin) but again none of that mattered.
WWE’s worst ever main event ending, worst ever ending to a PPV event killed anything that came before it.
Hell In A Cell’s brand is probably dead now. And deservedly.
