Here’s one that’s for fans only, even more so than the usual case of pro-wrestling DVD up for review. You see here’s a special event – Brock Lesnar in Japan for the first time in a decade – masquerading as a PPV-event. In fact it was a network show in America, so the DVD’s availability will appease the hardcore fans that live outside of that country.
It’s a two-hour show, and the card is distinctly underwhelming, Jericho gets a solid pop because of his connection to Japan, his early wrestling (training) years spent there…
But the Lesnar match isn’t anything special – it’s also low down on the list, hardly main event status. So his branding here kills anything else on the card by default; weakens the status of the legit main event matches.
A lot of this though simply feels so thrown together – Barrett and Kane vs Ziggler and Cena? No thanks. Kofi Kingston in a squash-match with Lesnar? What really is the point? Oh, that’s right – I get it – it’s called Beast In The East.
Doesn’t look like much of a beast fighting a zippy lightweight in the middle of the card.
A Divas title match that isn’t at all exciting, and then – oddly – the NXT Title Match ends up being the fight of the night. But it won’t mean anything to anyone unless you salivate over very piece of wrestling product.
Save your money otherwise. You do not need this.
