Once again the popular Writers on Mondays sessions by Victoria Univeristy’s International Institute of Modern Letters will take place at Wellington’s Te Papa Museum (Level 4, Te Marae) from 12.15-1.15pm on Mondays from July 11 to September 26.
The sessions are free and will feature writers in conversation discussing upcoming and already published works. It’s a wonderful series of talks featuring established writers from disciplines including poetry, drama, fiction, criticism, and non-fiction forms.
The programme kicks off with 2016’s Victoria University of Wellington Creative NZ Writer in Residence Anne Kennedy in conversation with Pip Adam.
After that Patricia Grace will talk with Briar Grace-Smith, Chris Price will introduce some new poets including Claire Orchard, Hera Lindsay Bird, Lynley Edmeades and Bill Nelson, all with first books being showcased.
Jenny Bornholdt’s Selected Poems is released August 15 and she’ll join James Brown to talk about her life and career in poetry.
August 26 is National Poetry Day so that week’s Writers on Monday session will feature a Best New Zealand Poetry reading chaired by John Newton.
And in September the series of talks will move to Circa Theatre to hear from participants in the MA scriptwriting workshop, with actors performing pieces from the new works.
