Win Tickets to see J Mascis

jmThis week J Mascis will play three shows in New Zealand (Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland).  He’ll also play Dunedin next Sunday, March 1.

On behalf of Plus1 Touring Off The Tracks has one double-pass for one lucky reader.

You can choose the show you want to attend – Christchurch (Thursday, February 26), Wellington (Friday, February 27) or Auckland (Saturday, February 28). jmasci tpsote

J is always worth seeing, whether it’s with Dinosaur Jr, Heavy Blanket or as a solo act. You can expect to hear songs from his latest solo album and the previous one, Several Shades of Why – there’ll also be some Dino J favourites.

I’ve seen J Mascis perform a few times, it’s always been great. It’s certainly not to be missed.

So, to be in to win leave a comment below here saying why you’d like to go and which show you and a friend will attend (Wgtn, Chch or Akld only)  – and I’ll pick one winner for the double-pass and announce it here in the next couple of days.

Auckland show. Because as a middle age white middle class male I’m entitled to everything free of charge, thought I don’t always get what I want, which itself is an injustice. Why do I think this? Well after going to Laneway in Auckland last year I realized that the current crop of youth don’t give a hoot about anyone else, in particular poor/brown/non-tertiary educated/unfashionably dressed people and are more concerned with growing (or now shaving off) beards, those silly things on top of their heads (men only) and wearing giant sunglasses (women) So rather than fight against the tide of “me-oism” that permeates youth culture today I might as well embrace it (well not the silly tuffs thing) and expect everything for free. Also I am rather enamored by J’s music.

I’d be keen to see the Wellington show cause I need to get out of the house and missed Bill Burr cause I had to work, also I’d like J Mascis to sign my skateboard so I can scratch it up.

I need to go to the Auckland show to combat the rock blandness that has plagued our fair city recently. The perfect antidote to Foo/Eagles fever.

would love to take my beautiful wife to see J play in Wellington, to say thanks for supporting me while completing a music degree and that while i may be a completely broke arsed graduate, I still got taste enough taste to take you to the best show in town this year….but that’s it, don’t expect much else.

I’d like to go because I went to see Slash and I need to wash off the 8 minutes of guitar wank I endured (that’s not including the toilet break) in the middle of Rocket Queen. Plus J Mascis is awesome and he gives the best interviews (not that I’d be interviewing him – he just makes me laugh. Have you ever interviewed him, Simon?). I’d be going to the Auckland show if I am bestowed with free tickets.

J Mascis is rad, his work with Dinosaur Jr is excellent and it would be great to be able to see the man’s solo work live. Our friend Gussie [of Mermaidens] is opening and I’m feeling guilty about not being able to afford tickets to go see them both in Wellington. Plus great to get out of Palmerston North at least one night a week for our sanity (don’t get me wrong though, PN has a great music scene too).

I need to go to the Wellington show because, where else could you be that night?

Well I saw Dinosaur Jr a couple of years ago at the Power Station & about 11 years ago I saw Lou Barlow solo at San Fran with my wife & daughter (in utero) so… once I’ve seen J solo I will complete the set when Murph brings his drum extravaganza to town in the next couple of years!

I would love to take my best friend in Christchurch as we were massive Dinosaur Junior fans back in the day and I haven’t bought tickets as I am moving overseas in a few weeks and couldn’t afford it. This would be a wonderful way to say goodbye to my mate!

you should take the tickets and burn them as anyone who wasn’t excited enough to buy them the instant they went on sale – they were cheap as chips – doesn’t deserve to go.

I missed Dinosaur Jnr last time they played here and would love to get along to the Auckland gig to see him. (having a toddler etc has meant tickets arn’t coming within the budget this month unfortunately)
    Cheers

Seen enough to eye you, but I’ve seen to much to try you, It’s always Wellington while you dig it too much to fry you. The weirdness flows between us, anyone can tell us. Freak scene just can’t believe why can’t it be cool and free?
