I’ve seen a lot of Wim Wenders films. I’ll watch almost anything that is scored by Ry Cooder. I love Harry Dean Stanton, and Dean Stockwell too for that matter. I’ve read plenty of Sam Shepard including his Motel Chronicles which was the basis for the script of this picture.
And yet I have never seen Paris, Texas.
I can’t answer why that is.
But thanks to the Wellington Film Society for bringing it (back) to the big screen.
This film is America. Ry Cooder’s Music is America.
And in very recent times we’ve lost Stanton and Shepard.
So get along to the Wellington Film Society screening of Paris, Texas this Monday, September 17, on the Embassy Theatre’s giant screen. From 6.15pm.
