Auckland’s Vector Arena has a “baby venue” – The Great South Pacific Tuning Fork. Intimate shows at the venue have been described as must-see, a chance to see small band combos and solo artists up close and personal, a place for Kiwi and international acts.
This October Vector Aerna’s Great South Pacific Tuning Fork will host over a dozen acts from New Zealand and abroad over a two-week span – billed as the Southern Fork American Fest it includes huge highlights for me in The Delines (one of my albums of the year!) and Robert Ellis (another of my absolute favourites of this year), there will be the always-on-form Justin Townes Earle (a regular to these shores) and up and comers including Jonny Fritz, Nikki Lane and Linda Ortega. Locals are on the bill too – including Eb and Sparrow, Marlon Williams and Aldous Harding.
And it’s all kicked off by the great Ryan Bingham – and that’s just the line-up at this time of announcement. There are more acts to come.
Tickets will be available to all shows from this time next week, Thursday, August 21 from Ticketmaster.
Some more must-see shows at Vector’s Tuning Fork. The first ever Southern Fork Americana Fest. I have to get up there for the back-to-back Delines and Robert Ellis. I have to.
