Tweedy is the father/son duo of Jeff Tweedy and Spencer Tweedy. Jeff we know from Wilco – Spencer, from being Jeff’s son. I wasn’t at all impressed with their debut album as a duo but I’m fully into the idea of seeing them live – because the show is promising a mix of the material from that album along with Wilco songs, Jeff Tweedy solo material (including a solo set, I believe) and going back to the Uncle Tupelo catalogue.
Also, since the release of that Tweedy album, Spencer’s been a handy part of his father’s production-work, assisting on records by Mavis and Pops Staples and so on. Tweedy, on stage, is fleshed out to a full band with extra guitars, bass and keyboards.
So I reckon it’ll be a great show. They’re playing Auckland’s Powerstation, Sunday, March 27, 2016. I think it’ll be a pretty special show. Details below.
