The Vinyl Countdown # 991

The Beatles, Yellow Submarine  (1969)
Yellow
When I started buying up records by The Beatles I never thought I’d own Yellow Submarine. That was one I probably figured I was just happy to have on CD; play it now and then, and that’s that. But since Oscar got hooked on The Beatles he has played Yellow Submarine a heap. He loves the title song and All Together Now and we’ve made it through a few of the others – great songs. I had a bit of a thing – once or twice – for the light and fluffy instrumental score composed by George Martin, I never hankered to listen to it but it was sweet enough (probably too sweet, actually – hence just listening now and then). Anyway, it was Oscar’s third birthday recently and I thought I’d buy him a couple of Beatles records that he could call his own. Yellow Submarine was one of them. (But of course I kinda bought it – mostly – for myself). Anyway, good to have it. Worth it for one song in particular.

Sample Track: Hey Bulldog

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
