The Vinyl Countdown # 924

Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Sound of Music [OST] (1965)

Never seen the film, or a version of the musical – at all. Well, my mum tells a story that this was in fact the first film I ever saw. They took me along when I was a baby. But as I was three months old, or three weeks, or something – it doesn’t really count now does it? In fact I have no Sound of Music story at all. Beyond marrying into a set of von Trapp hopefuls/wannabes…no, my association, if you can even call it that, with the music of The Sound of Music is in hearing cover versions by John Coltrane, in seeing it referenced here, there, and – of course – everywhere. I know this music – without ever trying to know it. I have no issue with that. I actually quite like some of it. Anyway, it was time to buy the record; to maybe – one day – get to know it all a little better…

Sample Track: My Favorite Things

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
