Stevie Wonder, Music of My Mind (1972)
Just the other week I wrote a wee bit about Stevie Wonder – thinking back to that line “Stevie Wonder is a musical genius!” and how I grew up with a lot of Stevie Wonder’s musical genius, my parents had a handful of those really great albums, that phenomenal 1970s run. I had a bunch of the albums, some of them the ones that used to belong to my parents. I also had an iPod full of Stevie Wonder albums – about 30 or 40 of them, live albums, compilations, box-sets, bootlegs and as many of the studio albums as I could find. I’ve lost that – in a recent burglary. So that reminded me to get hold of this album on vinyl, the first from that golden run and the only one I never owned on vinyl. Had the tape. Had the CD. Had tracks from it on the box-set. Never owned the LP. I’m very happy to finally have it. A small consolation after a stink week or two remembering all of the music I’ve suddenly “lost” – or rather had stolen. Good to have this in the collection. I love having it around…
