Fleetwood Mac, Mr. Wonderful (1968)
I love Fleetwood Mac – the blues band years are very special, but I dig all eras/styles. That said, this album is one I’ve always wanted to own on vinyl (The Cover!) and have only just found my way to owning. Bought the lovely new reissue. What a great second album this is. A good take on blues – okay, it might not be “real” blues, but I still think these guys were about the best of the British Blues Boom bands, well the ones I heard anyway. And this album, start to finish, has no duds. Slow blues, good boogies, a nice range of styles, the band really honing its sound. They would get better – but only just – and then the implosion…and from there so many wonderful reinventions.
