The Vinyl Countdown # 838

Stevie Nicks, Bella Donna (1981)
Stevie-asI had forgotten all about this really – I don’t really listen to Stevie Nicks as a solo artist, only as part of Fleetwood Mac, though I knew this album, have owned it for years. Funny how around the early 1980s the band is in a bit of a rut, obviously they’re all more interested in solo projects but they made a couple of really strong band albums and the solo projects are all really good too. And certainly as a debut solo album this one knocks it out of the park. But then, I grew up in Hastings, where a highlight of the local calendar back then was attending the A&P Show. And how many women were there over two or three days so sure that they were Stevie Nicks. Leather. Lace. And lots worse besides…that’s enough to put you off for a bit. Glad to have got over that and to have dug this one out once again.

Sample Track: Edge of Seventeen
