The Doors, Morrison Hotel (1970)
I loved The Doors. Then I hated them. Then I kinda dug them. It’s been on/off for 25 years or so…but I’ve always loved this album – even when I’ve not liked The Doors. I think this was actually the first full album I heard by The Doors (not counting live records, compilations). A mate turned up with the cassette tape and it was exciting to hear songs that we felt like we were discovering, not the obvious stuff already boring to my older brother and parents…songs they hadn’t even heard. I’ve owned The Doors albums a bunch of times, on tape, on CD, and most of them on vinyl. I’ll spend my life – well, a small part of it (it’s not like I think about it all the time) flip-flopping on The Doors. But I’ll always love this record.
Sample Track: Peace Frog
