Luna, Bewitched (1994)
This was the Luna album I knew the best – so when I heard they were reforming and visiting Wellington this was the one I returned to. Played what was left of the CD a bit – scratched/fingerprints, one of very few CDs I have held on to for far too long and passed the used-by date clearly – and then I went down to the store and bought the lovely new reissue of the LP. It sounded perfect. And was therefore the best way to warm up to the gig. My brother-in-law was in town and needed a refresher-course so we sat down with some beers over a couple of sessions and got familiar with this album, playing the Spines (they opened for Luna) and The Go-Betweens and the new one from Robert Forster in and around…all of
them made sense. They went together nicely. And so then we get to the gig and it’s perfect. A great meal at the Cicio Cacio Osteria next door and then into the venue to hear the Spines and then Luna – everything perfect, such a great gig. And nice to have this album in the collection now too, reminder of a great band, souvenir of one of the best gigs I’ve been to in a while. (As I seem to keep saying…)
