The Vinyl Countdown # 813

The Rolling Stones, Some Girls (1978) [Reissue]
Some Girls-asI’ve clarified the reissue because I already own this album, already told you I own this album too – Some Girls is one of my favourites by The Rolling Stones, always has been. I’ve owned the tape, the CD, and now two vinyl copies, this one doesn’t have the cut-outs of the original cover; my other copy is one of the originals. I bought this – I’m not sure why – I just wanted to have a nice, new version of this album and I’ve been playing it a lot recently. I guess it was processing Keith’s new solo album and thinking about how it’s better than a new Stones album probably would have been – that got me thinking again about how Some Girls really is the last truly great (no filler) Stones album. I say that as someone who owns all of their 80s output on vinyl and I grew up with 80s-Stones and really dig a lot of the stuff on all of those albums. But Some Girls has a pulse and a strut and it just has some really good songs on it. And a really strong cover in and around the originals.

Sample Track: Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)
SSSThe Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown

Love this album, but I still think Tattoo You takes out the title of last great Stones album.
