Donnie and Joe Emerson, Dreamin’ Wild (1979)
Good times for sure – I loved the story around this as much as I loved the music – but I really did dig this music, just as soon as I heard it. Good stuff. Not even the endorsement of Ariel Pink could throw me. Good, good times indeed. You must, at least, check out this short doco-clip. It’s a must. And then check out some of the stuff on YouTube, if not the album. Some people have been baffled/miffed by the “production” – that’s altogether missing the point. I’ve loved this album a lot over the last few years only – but have often thought I should stump for the vinyl. Well, I did that, just the other day, as part of my payment for a DJ set at Real Groovy in Auckland. As I say, good times indeed. This seemed, then, the perfect souvenir of a good trip. Worthwhile.
