The Vinyl Countdown # 789

Little Stevie Wonder, Tribute to Uncle Ray (1962)
SAWJust recently I spotted this in a record store – and had to have it. Because I hadn’t – previously. Which is to say I’d never even owned the CD, rare because I had most of the Stevie Wonder albums; had an iPod with about 50 records (or more) on there (stolen now, gone) and had heaps of the CDs. And most of the classic things on record now. But had never seen this one. It’s “Little” Stevie’s tribute to Ray Charles and it’s great. Of course. Nice to have – also. And it is the reason I did a Stevie Wonder DJ set – okay, I’d always wanted to, sure, but seeing this – and deciding to buy it – is what set me off. Played a couple from this on the night, but have been loving this album across the last few weeks. And on from here no doubt. (Oh yeah, I made a playlist for you all to have and hear from the DJ set too).

Sample Track: Hallelujah, I Love Her So

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
