The Vinyl Countdown # 741

Sleater-Kinney, The Woods (2005)
woods-asI always liked Sleater-Kinney right from when I first heard them/first read about them even…but I think I liked the idea of them as much as the music. Right up until I heard this. This – their final album in their original run – is the masterpiece. I’m sure of that. So sure it sent me back through the catalogue to enjoy One Beat and, well, many of the others. It was the first thing I revisited in the lead up to the new (very good) album. It’s the constant. I like the other albums but this one I always love. So there I was the other week at the gig and I bought this – the double LP (3 sides, 1 etched) and a tote bag to put it in. I’d paid for the gig, no comps for this guy. And I was there buying merch. You can write all the good reviews you like but the best gig is the one where you’re reduced back to being the fan you started out as…always a great experience.

Sample Track: Entertain
WOODSThe Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
