Spike Jones, The Best of Spike Jones Vol. 2 (1977)
I love Spike Jones. I had a couple of CDs and I have the earlier volume of this somewhere in the record collection…but I bought this (for $1) this past weekend, as a recommendation for Oscar. He didn’t seem much interested in it once we got it home, but I reckon he’ll dig it. He’ll know a few of the songs – via other versions – already. And it’s fun stuff, infectious, clever, silly, wonderful.  He’ll come around then. And if he doesn’t I’m already enjoying it, reliving when I first heard some of these songs as a kid, and then later when I binged on comedy and novelty records as some behind-the-counter music nerd impulsively ordering up whatever I could find…
