Into Orbit, Caverns (2016)
I wasn’t expecting a copy of this – I was going to hunt one out at some stage I guess – but I was already the lucky/proud recipient of one of the Test Pressings. And that was cool. And is cool. But Into Orbit have a strong visual element to their aesthetic, the images that swirl in the background are a crucial part of their performances, and so album cover artwork is likely one of the reasons they wanted to take their fantastic 2014 full-length album, Caverns and place it in the new context: a vinyl version in a gatefold sleeve. Well, I’ve enjoyed this band’s music so much over the last couple of years and I enjoyed having a chat with the duo for my podcast and I’ve loved the shows too. So it was very nice to be given this. And if you’re a fan – or think you might be – I’d encourage getting a copy of the record. Great cover art, great look and feel to the gatefold sleeve, and that fabulous music now on vinyl. And all at a very decent price. Do it.
Sample Track: Set Adrift
