The Vinyl Countdown # 68

Ray Conniff And The Singers, Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970)
I seem to be collecting up versions of the song Bridge Over Troubled Water – and from cataloguing my records on Discogs finally I can certainly see that I’m collecting up anything I find by Ray Conniff and – variously The Ray Conniff Singers, His Singers, & Singers and here, “The” Singers. Even Ray Conniff without any singers…so it was perfect storm here wasn’t it – a Ray Conniff album called Bridge Over Troubled Water and it’s the opening number. Spotted in a Johnsonville charity shop a few weeks ago. And I was powerless. The parking meter money went on it. Straight away. It’s a strange sickness. Having to have Ray Conniff albums. But it keeps me happy. It’s not hurting. There’s a creepy-cult joy to his light-music pop choir arrangements.

Sample Track: Everybody’s Talkin’

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
