The Vinyl Countdown # 654

Olafur Arnalds, Found Songs (2009)
OLAFUR_as
A lovely wee 10” ep this – seven songs, one for each day – each piece written, recorded and sent out into the world (via Tweet) in one day. Here the seven pieces by Olafur Arnalds are collected up and celebrated on a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl. I love this guy’s music – his soundtracks, his reworking of classical themes, his embracing of indie music and traditional classical music and the minimalist, music-box melodies that he makes in taking from all of these musical worlds. I’ve followed most of what he’s done over the last few years, but most of it is music I listen to on headphones – a soundtrack for when I’m walking somewhere, or for drifting off to sleep. I liked the idea of buying something to sit down with – this short vinyl release is lovely. I’ve played it a heap already. And I always look forward to hearing this beautiful music.

Sample Track: Raein
Olafur The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
