Dizzy Gillespie, Salle Pleyel Concert (Vol.2) (1956)
A wee taster really, a little soupçon – it’s volume two of a concert, just an EP’s worth – I found it at a store in Sydney recently; I was buying up a few singles and just decided to chuck this in the pile. I’ve got other Dizzy Gillespie records, going back to when my mum introduced me to his music – as part of a great early education in jazz (and blues and rock’n’roll). Jazz in particular though; the music that’s stayed longest with me, that’s lived longest and strongest in my collection/s.
Sample Track: Oo-Shoo-Be-Do-Be
