V/A, Let’s Have A Party: The Rockabilly Influence 1950-1960 (1981)
I found this record the other day in the store, hadn’t ever seen it before – pretty nifty compilation. I knew most of the names on it. Still, one or two new things (as should always be the way with a compilation). Most of the names here – the big names – I got to via some other musician namedropping or covering the act. The people here – Wanda Jackson and Eddie Cochran and Johnny Burnette – came to me via Paul McCartney and Elvis Presley and Fleetwood Mac…that sort of thing. Terrific songs on here, a fun wee comp. Have played it a few times already and really like all of the stuff. A nice thing to have. A good find. A wee gem. Etc.
Sample Track: Chew Tobacco Rag (Billy Briggs)
