The Vinyl Countdown # 597

Tortoise, It’s All Around You (2004)
tortThis has long been one of my favourite Tortoise albums, but when I got to the merch desk at their recent gig it was also the only one left. What I’m saying is I would have bought it no matter what. Good thing I love it. Didn’t own any of their material on vinyl, previously. Now I’m after the whole catalogue – of course! Love this band. And what a gig! It was just the best, utterly mesmeric. I remember when this album was released – and I had the CD – I interviewed one of the band members, one of the first international artist interviews for me. I’ve done a few hundred since tortyI guess…but that was a happy experience. I was nervous-as. Since having this record I’ve played it most days. It’s the soundtrack to a normal day working around here. And it also goes on at night when the drinks-for-adults start getting poured…

Sample Track:  The Lithium Shifts

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
