V/A, Natural Born Killers [OST] (1994)
I liked the film – an Oliver Stone rewrite/trashing of a Quentin Tarantino script. Well, I reckon it works well, or worked – it’s been a while since I’ve seen it. But I’ve always loved the soundtrack. I still have my CD – still play it in the car, scratches and jumps and all. So many great songs, and song-choices and the editing – it’s basically a ‘score’ stitched together from various artists. This did so much for me in terms of introductions and reminders too. I loved the Leonard Cohen stuff here already – had his album, The Future, but it is the thing that really got me hooked on Nine Inch Nails and Patsy Cline. And that’s it right there, in two moves, the brilliant
incongruities on this album. I have long wanted it on vinyl – and in fact I’ve bought two copies as presents ahead of finally rewarding myself with it – a bit of birthday store-credit recently from my brother. I know he’d approve, as a fan of this film and its music. So cheers Kane! Many thanks, as always…
