The Vinyl Countdown # 265

Beastie Boys, Paul’s Boutique (1989)
Just recently I wrote about this album and some of what it means to me – got quite into the idea of this being 30 years old. It was and is one of my favourite albums. Still. Always. I love everything from the Beastie Boys – but this was always ‘The One’. And yet my original vinyl copy didn’t play well. I ditched it. Figured it wasn’t for me, wasn’t something that was going to work on my set-up, I dunno, I think I was just fucked off that it didn’t play – a defective copy. And so I told myself that it wasn’t meant to be. Wasn’t for me. Well the other week I rushed out to buy it all over again. Had to have it. Time-capsule stuff for me. One of the greatest records of my life, in my lifetime. A masterpiece.

Sample Track: B-Boy Bouillabaisse

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
