Gerald Murnane, Words in Order (2018)
I reviewed the album right here just recently – but now I’m celebrating its glory and existence on vinyl as is the way with this blog-series. Gerald Murnane, the great – and reclusive Australian writer – saw fit to play along with the folly of recording some of his original words with some cover poems and song-lyric recitations. It’s as mad as you might think. And then some. But it’s beautifully cover-shot and packaged and comes in a signed, limited edition of 300. I had to have one. Arriving as it did right as I got really interested in Murnane’s short stories. This felt like one of the great
finds of last year. My thanks to my Aussie-based mate Sam for ordering it for me and having it delivered to his house for me to collect when I was over there a few months later. A weird gem. One of the great reasons to collect things on vinyl
