The Vinyl Countdown # 244

Tom Lehrer, That Was The Year That Was (1965)
When I was getting hooked on old comedy records a decade or so ago – I was burnt out from listening to music all the time and yet I was still so used to listening to ‘something’ (and podcasts weren’t big at that time) I would come home and listen to a comedy CD instead – Tom Lehrer was one of the names given to me. I was hooked as soon as I heard him – this classic album is maybe all you need these days from Lehrer. But I recently decided to grab this other live album too – why not? Not hurting anyone. It’s unlikely I’ll sit and listen to it often but just looking at the cover and remembering the skill in his songs, the musical-comedy routine he had, well that’s probably enough for me now. I felt the impulse. I had to buy it.

Sample Track: New Math

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
