David Kilgour, Bobbie’s a girl (2019)
David Kilgour – something about how he plays the guitar and what he chooses to say and the phrasing of both, well it’s somehow a description of New Zealand’s isolation and contentment and it’s hard to further articulate, but there’s something warm and safe and interesting about David’s music always. This new one – which I took a while to rave about, but rave about it I did! – has been on my mind and on my stereo for most of the last stages of this year. It’s just a lovely set of moods and modes and mostly instrumental songs or song-snippets. Spoke with him recently for an upcoming podcast. Got the record. Got it signed. Felt wonderful about all of that happening. The man is a treasure. The music he makes is always a pleasure to have and hold and hang on to.
