Carpenters, Horizon (1975)
Been on a big Carpenters trip lately, and though they’ve been in my life forever it’s only now I realise that I’m a Greatest Hits-player…well, I know a few of the albums but this is the first time I’ve decided to listen through to them all. There’s some great lesser known gems on the albums and also just so many great hits that one compilation could never cover it all. I’m hoping to find my LPs to add to my collection but this is the first non-compilation from the Carpenters that I’ve owned on vinyl. Good record with a couple of the big hits and some interesting covers and other non-singles. And like all the big bands I’m into it’s absolutely about the music and the memories of listening to it across my life but it’s also about the soap-opera qualities of the backstory. And there’s so much of that with the Carpenters too.
Sample Track: Solitaire
