Sharon O’Neill, Danced In The Fire [Single] (1988)
A couple of years ago I started buying up a bunch of Sharon O’Neill singles. (And albums too). I have most of what I want now. But I’m also still working through some of them – the b-sides and in one case the full album. Most of the O’Neill music has been in my life since I was a kid – and maybe this is the first song I heard actually; at least in the sense of picking up on it. This was a radio hit and I loved it. Still do. The b-side is good too. This marks the end of a golden run for Sharon O’Neill as both songwriter and performer. She still gives good performances and is still creating – and it’s all fine and decent. I’m not knocking what came after this, just wishing to celebrate that that first decade of her as solo artist was a brilliant run. Huge hits, great presence, one of the very best.
