The Vinyl Countdown # 189

Bob Dylan, Fallen Angels (2016)
Bob Dylan long ago earned the right to do whatever he likes and then in the last few years he tested the shit out of that by released three albums of covers in a row; the third a triple album. I was surprised a little at how much I love these albums – but particularly this one. Here’s my review from when it was released. I loved Shadows (the first album) and was fairly swift to buy both that and Triplicate on vinyl. But with Angels I actually used the Wellington Library’s vinyl-lending system to enjoy the record. It felt like a strange treat. Borrowing an LP – a brand new LP – and having it for a week. I played Fallen Angels so much and knew I’d one-day own it. I kept thumbing past it on the shelf over the last couple of years. Finally I bought it. It’s still my favourite. I still hope Dylan does anything else if he records again. But that said I’ll buy a fourth volume. Absolutely!

Sample Track: That Old Black Magic
The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
