Albert Lee, Albert Lee (1982)
I guess I discovered Albert Lee through his work with others – but it was nice to find this album on a recent trip to Aussie. $7 for a well looked-after second-hand copy of this, his second solo album. It might not be that exciting to some but what a band. Larrie Londin, the legend, on drums; Vince Gill earning his stripes on supporting/rhythm guitar and Rodney Crowell producing (and loaning plenty of the songs). Lee’s strength is his guitar playing, not his singing or writing – but this is a nice set. I like it. And I might even play something from it tomorrow night as part of my DJ set.
