Wilson Pickett, The Exciting Wilson Pickett (1966)
This is Wilson Pickett’s second album and actually it’s the only one I own by him. I used to have a pretty decent/comprehensive CD compilation but I’m not sure where that’s even go to now; I think I loaned it to someone and it never made it back. Oh well. It’s nice to think they got to hear some great music. This is an old LP, old condition, the cover with some masking tape across the top. It looks like it might have been part of a library or something – but the actual LP is in great condition. It plays fine. And what fine, great songs are on this – Land Of 1000 Dances, In The Midnight Hour. And all those great, great players involved on this: Isaac Hayes, Spooner Oldham, Al Jackson, “Duck” Dunn, Steve Cropper. I only picked this up recently but I’m very glad it’s part of the collection. A gem.
