The Vinyl Countdown # 172

The Black Crowes, Shake Your Money Maker (1990)
I have been going through a massive Black Crowes kick of late. Always liked them, but last couple of years I went back through all the albums and bought Southern Harmony of course. And have been wanting to get hold of this one too. The debut. A classic. Southern Harmony might be the better batch of songs, with better playing too but there’s something magical about this. Fully formed, a band arrives. Their timing was great too – doing a retro rock thing at the start of the 1990s. I was hooked when they burst on the scene. And I’m hooked all over again now.

Sample Track: Twice As Hard
The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
