The Vinyl Countdown # 1687

Aphex Twin, Windowlicker [Single] (1999)

I had to buy this – simply for the cover. Alright, and because I love the song Windowlicker – and its over-the-top extended-version video too; for a while there I loved every single thing that Aphex Twin did. Clever cookie, that Richard D. James. And the three songs that form this EP or Single play nicely together. But I can’t lie, I have this on vinyl simply to amuse/offend/baffle whoever flips to it when scanning through the records. Well, that is the reason I bought the vinyl version. I had this on CD already and love the music. I don’t listen to Aphex all that much now, but about a decade ago (or so) he was it for me. And I still notice his influence in a lot of the music I love. And from time to time I dip back in and it still feels fresh and interesting.

Sample Track: Nannou

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
