I’m a Jose Feliciano fan – it goes back to being very young. But I had no idea I owned this album or even what it was until the other night. Found it in the stash and decided to give it a go. It collects, as the title announces, material that Jose recorded from the age of 10 through to 23 (his age when the album was released). He sounds pretty good at 10! (Amor Jibaro). And it was amazing listening to this – the record scuffed and popping; that only made it seem better. I stopped writing (something I know many Six60 fans have been calling for!) I just sat staring at the record-player. It was awesome. This sound was awesome. Some great covers on this album – many I had not heard before and a few old chestnuts that I was familiar with. A cleaned-up CD version would not interest me. This was (is) the real deal. And I would never complain anyway, because, as the Steve Buscemi-character in Fargo says, “Jose Feliciano, you’ve got no complaints“.
