The Vinyl Countdown # 1650

Debbie Harry, KooKoo (1981)

What a treat it was to find this album. I really didn’t know much about it – but as part of a Nile Rodgers kick I started reading up about this album and decided I had to hear it. I like Blondie sure. And Debbie Harry a bit too. Yep. But I can’t say I’ve ever been a huge fan. Nile though? Absolutely. Always. And whatever he and Bernard Edwards touched – in this period – was/is worth a listen. Some great talent on this album – and some great songs. You can hear the influence this record had on Harry, Blondie and so many of the artists that the Chic people would go on to create, inspire and work with. A gem.

Sample Track: Backfired

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
