Neil Young, Time Fades Away (1973)
I knew all about Time Fades Away but hadn’t ever heard it. I mean you just don’t easily find these sorts of things. And it’s not been reissued so your best bet was to walk into the second-hand shop and hope they had it. And that’s exactly what I did in America last year. Small town. Couple of record stores. Having a browse. Decide to check Neil Young section. And there it is: boom! $7 – that I did not expect! So now I have Time Fades Away – one of the very few Neil Young albums I kinda expected to never hear. Actually, it is the only one that was officially released that I hadn’t heard. Good record too. Lots of good stuff on it. Kinda baffling that he doesn’t want it reissued. It’s a lot better than some of the stuff he has allowed to be re-released. I do love Neil Young. And I do love his stubbornness.
