Skeptics, Amalgam (1990)
Today the mailman dropped a package at the door. A bunch of the recent/ish Flying Nun reissues – including this gem. It was a good – (good) – day. I enjoyed the recent doco and certainly the rekindled an interest, perfect timing as Flying Nun and Captured Tracks continue to provide the correct service to this country by reissuing the things that matter. That should really matter. In high school and university Skeptics were a band you heard about a long time before you heard; well, that was my experience. Little snippets on cassette tape, lost gold it seemed like. A track here or there on a homemade compilation. And then – finally – hearing the albums. Wow. Then that doco reminding me to hear them all again. So I start here – with this one. Today. Played it through twice. Jesus, they weren’t really from this planet were they, they were from somewhere not of this earth. In fact they call it Palmerston North.
Sample Track: Sheen Of Gold
