The Vinyl Countdown # 1135

Madonna, Like A Virgin (1985)
Like A virgin
It’s funny what you wouldn’t allow yourself to buy at one stage – I kinda wanted this album on tape. But I never ever bought it – must have thought it not right to own a Madonna tape. Weird. No issue with that now. I don’t like a lot of her stuff but the first couple of albums are great – love the first one, particularly (a relatively recent purchase also). And this. This being the 1985 version, not the original American one from 1984; that’s good though, means this has got Into The Groove on it. Sometimes that’s my favourite Madonna track. Lots of other reasons to dig this though, the title track, Dress You Up, Material Girl (that was when I probably first warmed to Mads; not a euphemism by the way). And then o fcourse there’s the band/s on here – some Tony Thompson on drums, Bernard Edwards on bass, Mr Nile Rodgers on guitar and madonnaproduction duties….no shame owning this. It’s one of her best efforts.

Sample Track: Angel

The Vinyl Countdown is a document of every LP I listen to, brand new discoveries and old-old favourites; extremely pre-loved, previously abandoned or with the shrink-wrap having just been removed it’s all here at The Vinyl Countdown
