Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Hard Promises (1981)
By no means a dud, but this is the Tom Petty album I’ve listened to the least. I really can’t answer why that is. I remember The Waiting from the time – or at least around this time. I remember it as following on from Refugee and such. Which it did. But I really don’t know all that much about this album. I’ve got everything Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (and Tom Petty solo) has released – so I guess there has to be one that’s the runt of the litter. And it’s this. But I’m going to change this – it doesn’t stick out as a gem in the way that many of the other records do. But I’m convinced this isn’t a dud.
