Paul McCartney, NEW (2013)
Have you got the time for McCartney’s “NEW” album? – I asked at the end of my review. And then, I promptly forgot about the “NEW” album by Paul McCartney. You see, as sometimes has to be the way, I was reviewing that from a link, a stream. I hardly ever get sent records to review anymore, and that’s okay, there are always workarounds and so many albums are streamed early these days through official channels. There are of course other ways too (so I’m told…) Anyway, I meant to keep up with McCartney’s return to form album – I loved it. But it just got lost. No physical copy, not even the Mp3 files meant that I just forgot all about it. My brief love affair with Spotify is over too. I hate that shit. It messes with your ‘puter man! And when you forget your password it asks you for your old password – genius! Anyway, I was buying a couple of Wings albums recently – on account of reading this book about Paul McCartney in the 70s and then I spied NEW on vinyl. Nice NEW-ish copy, a bit of creasing on the cover, but hey. And discounted because of it. Lovely big songbook, great packaging, etc. But I’m back fully into this record – almost in love with it even. The best thing he’s done in some time.
