The Golden Dawn: DJ Set (Friday, November 18)

djUp for the second of my twice-a-year Auckland visits this weekend – and stopping in to play some records at the Golden Dawn on Friday night (I’ve got the 8-11 shift). Before me is DJs Automatic, after me is the tag-team of Russell Brown and Sandy Mill. It’s always a fun night playing records at The Golden Dawn. This’ll be my third crack at it.

I played an 8-11 Saturday night set late last year and then a 5-8 Friday afternoon easer at the start of this year.

So it’ll be a case of whatever’s made it into the case and onto the plane and back out at the other end. And then I’ll disappear after for a beer or two.

I’m really looking forward to it actually. A great, and very welcoming, place to play. And a musically clued-up crowd too. Anything goes, but every second thing (at least) gets recognised. So it’s nice to have them (vaguely) on your side.

If only the Karl Blau vinyl would turn up in time…
