The last year’s health problems flared up again and kind of laid me low
This time around I didn’t take myself off to the hospital
I just tried to deal with the problems from home and finally go looking for a doctor my own
Meanwhile I didn’t feel I could write anything
Maybe a few posts on Facebook to let my friends know what was happening…
I haven’t had my own GP for about 30 years so with this condition I have I went finally to hook up with one at the Newtown Medical Centre.
The woman on the desk was hard work but I filled in all the forms and tried to explain that my relevant medical records would be at the hospital where I spent a week last year.
Every time I explained about my pancreas and leg problems and how the hospital has all the details she brushed it off with a snarl.
Am I missing something? Do hospitals and GPs not have communication?
Anyway I’m to go back in 24 hours and hopefully someone will see me – I just hope they have a better attitude.
(Another) 24 Hours From Tulsa
So I waited till the time was up and gave them a call. This time the woman on the phone was really nice and we sorted out where my old medical records would be found.
But then she said the doctor could see me on Monday. I told her that I couldn’t wait that long and explained the problem – in lots of pain and can’t eat. I said I’d have to go back to A&E and spend more time in hospital.
She was very good about it and sorted me an appointment for this time tomorrow.
Meanwhile Cole is becoming very disenfranchised with me – every time I go to the kitchen for more water he gets all excited thinking there will be the usual leftovers – then he slinks back off disappointed .
I tried to explain the situation and he wagged his tail.
Well I finally got to see a GP and he’s German.
Seemed very good – even referred to various books.
Pretty much as I expected – carry on what I’m doing to flush the pancreas but at least there was no talk of sending me back to the hospital and he prescribed me some pain relief.
The receptionist cheered up a bit when I paid the bill straight afterwards and the Herr Doktor TXTed me later in the day to confirm I had Pancreatitis and to keep taking the tablets…
It’s been a couple of weeks now and I am starting to come right. I basically aped the way they had managed me in hospital and waited it out so I am doubly grateful for what they did and taught me up there.
