This one totally passed me by – I mean, obviously, I’m including it here on this list…but I mean I’d never really been aware of The Associates at all. As far as I can tell. I certainly didn’t even know about the album Sulk. And look, I like synth-pop as much as the next person…provided the next person is something of a fairweather fan of synth-pop and not a total disciple.
So, first listen and I really didn’t care about this either way. Couldn’t hear anything special.
Second listen I have moved on that slightly. I guess I can see the appeal. This one could have passed me by though – I didn’t need to hear this.
My major take-home/trivia from this is that the group’s drummer/percussionist in the mid/late 80s was Mortiz von Oswald.
He went on to make one of my favourite records of recent times.
