War – another band I really only know from compilations, from hearing at other people’s places, recommendations that I’ve never quite followed up on. But as with the previous entry in this series (The Temptations) this is so totally in my wheelhouse as to be a gross oversight not knowing it already – and I’m making up for time; been playing it over and over.
In fact The World Is A Ghetto is playing out – to me – much like when I discovered The Pharoahs’ In The Basement. Okay, this one is perhaps more overtly political, though maybe only just. The same big, sprawling jams are here – total immersion – a fabulous, funky world of music that seems to come alive.
