I’ve listened to a lot of Bee Gees albums – particularly over the last decade or so. I got sorta hooked on the band, the songwriting was the gateway, which is often the way. For me. It used to be a guilty-pleasure sort of thing – liking the disco-era, and some of the sixties song; no need for guilty-pleasure compartmentalising though – just a great band with plenty of great songs.
I’d heard the albums either side of this – but never heard this right through until this challenge. I’ve played it a bit lately, I knew a few of the songs from it but had never sat down to play it right through.
Hard to believe it was a bit of a dud at the time of its release; part of the bust-up of the band…
Well, not hard to believe. But sorta surprising. It’s a wee gem. Which (almost) everyone knows now.
