I could easily have told you that I was quite a big Orbital fan – I enjoyed them. Still do – in theory. But I never play their albums. I knew some singles. I knew some moments, I had a compilation album – I liked some of the clips, I liked when they were featured. I had friends that raved about them – and, er, raved with them I guess…but I did not know this album and reckon I only really know some of the later Orbital albums.
This has, largely, held up well. I say that on first listen – but I mean, I can spot plenty of mid-90s things about it and yet it sounds good still. A lot of other mid-90s dance-tinged music and electronica really does not.
Orbital was always a class act though. I was always sure of that.
This has been a good reminder to listen to more of them; to listen more often.
